The Christmas Macaron

Ma Cherie, a team of talented and passionate patisserie chefs, known for authentic French pastries. Head chef, Guillaume Nicoli, is still working his magic with locally sourced ingredients and this year he has a special treat for us.  

The Christmas Macaron. 

The concept of the Christmas macaron was quite simple, really. The goal was to tap into your childhood memories as you savoured the flavour. 

Where did this idea stem from? Head Chef Guillaume has a passion for bringing emotion to food. Through his culinary adventures he’s noticed a simple pattern. If you taste something and it brings you back to a memory or a moment, then it will be a success.  

His first macaron flavour trial of this was back this past year for Easter when he created the Hot Cross Bun macaron. It was a raving success! The natural progression for Christmas was to follow the idea of tapping into that memory, maybe even childhood memory of the first bite into a Christmas pudding. The flavour combination of sweet and spicy and slightly tangy.  

After a few tests and the team acting as scientists, they created the perfect combination, and that’s what’s now available for wholesale, in cafes and on retail shelves.    

 

Ma Cherie now has over 8 flavours of delicious macarons.  As for our opinion, we think the Christmas Macaron surpasses them all. Biting into this macaron is almost like eating Christmas pudding. The flavour burst through in an exciting ratio of sweet macaron to Christmas spices. Each macarons has one red, and one green shell for a truly festive experience. 

We imagine that they’ll be perfect with a glass of bubbles during a dinner party. Or the perfect light treat ending a large Christmas meal. Maybe even a stocking stuffer for loved ones.
